Dear brothers,

My essays and magazines seemed to be nothing, so I have decided to join the army. Slavery must be abolished, what the south is doing to the negros, our brothers is wrong and must be stopped. No need to be worried about me, for I know god will guide me on this dangerous journey. Take care of our parents, Charles and Clara, keep them company while I am away and assure then ill be okay. I love ya'll and wish ya'll the best in Manchester, Vermont.

Sincerely, Clarence Parsons
