Dear Constance Butler,
We regret to inform you that your husband, Captain Bruce Stanton has died, he was shot in the hip on the right side and while it was being amputated and he died due to blood loss and infection. We honor him in the darkest but best of times, his life contributed to the surrender of General Robert E. Lee and the Confederate army. His efforts in leading his regiment will never be forgotten. We wish you all the best in these dark times.
